New housing unit sales in August 2021 were 99, an increase of eleven units compared to July. In August 2020, new unit sales were 75, and this year is 32% above. The accumulated total from January to August is 689 new housing units, 26.7% over the same period for 2020. We must note that in March 2020, there were no sales due to the global pandemic closure.
In August, the total sales amount for new housing was $25,041,910, the most significant value since March 2021. The average new housing units sales amount is $252,949. The average amount is 19% less than in August 2020. The accumulated total average from January to August in 2021 is $232,743 compared to the same period of 2020; August marks 36.7% above.
Used housing units sold in August were 1,113, just 1% less than in July but 12% over the same month in 2020. Accumulated total sales from January to August in 2021 are 8,330 or 64% over 2020. For the same months in 2020, there was an accumulated total of 5,063, noted that in March 2020, there were no sales because of the pandemic closure.
Total unit sales of new and existing houses in August are 1,212, the same amount as in July and a growth of 14% compared to August 2020. The total accumulated sales from January to August is 9,019, while for the same period in 2020, there were 5,607. So far, in 2021, we can conclude that total sales are 60% above last year’s. However, this is due to the loss of sales in 2020 because of the pandemic and then, the low-interest rates and incentives to buy housing units.
